These kilns are often preferred when floor-space is an issue. The basic concept is to fix the hearth and move the kiln to reduce the footprint of the kiln. These type of kilns can be produced as either an electric kiln or gas kiln alternative.
One additional feature of this type of kiln is that it reduces the movement of the kiln load during firing which can be relevant in technical or special ceramics industries where movement after setting is difficult or critical.
